What is Visual Communication?
Visual Communication is the art of listening and visually capturing key information in real time, at group or individual level, to enable the thinking process and end results to be better understood. Visual Communication is run by Anna Riccardi, Artist in Residence at the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre in London.
At your event, such as a conference or meeting, our artists will visualise the key ideas, themes and outcomes that emerge from discussion, enabling a platform for clearer communication and facilitating productive debate.
Visual language releases creativity in a room, encouraging people to communicate ideas using analogies and metaphors. It helps focus on what is really important, avoiding jargon, making complex ideas and situations easier to comprehend. As people see their speech or input recorded visually, they feel valued and encouraged to further engage and contribute.
This emerging imagery allows a group to draw comparisons, make connections, discuss the elephant in the room, think outside the box, and build new and shared mind maps. This process of visual minuting naturally leads people into an imaginative realm, allaying fear and anxiety, and making aspirations more achievable.

What happens afterwards
After the graphic facilitation event, our illustrations and pictures remain in the group’s memory, and artwork is left with clients for future reference and often for internal display. You can see examples of our work here. On request, Visual Communication will also produce digital files of the artwork and/or create a ‘clean’ set of boards carrying the key messages and outcomes.
Another option is that we can make a short animated film for you, illustrating key messages and outcomes. We will also be pleased to create graphics to simplify key documents or instructions. Explore our site to see how we can help you.
